There was a time when I felt like my own mind was my worst enemy. To those around me, I was outgoing and ambitious, but deep down I was overanxious and plagued by self-doubt. Keeping up with day-to-day life was exhausting. My journey to understand and heal my inner reality ultimately led me to hypnotherapy. Because of misrepresentations by stage performers and media tropes, hypnosis is often misunderstood. But the reality is that in the hands of a trained professional, hypnotherapy is a safe, gentle, and empowering modality backed by over 100 years of clinical research and therapeutic success. In fact, the proven effectiveness of clinical hypnosis in reducing anxiety, increasing self-esteem, and alleviating both mental and physical pain makes it a first choice for many clients and healing professionals. But what continues to impress me the most about hypnosis is how it helps us to become more in tune with our inner selves as a way to heal ourselves. As I continued to explore hypnosis and diligently practiced what I learned within my own situation, not only did I experience relief from my symptoms, I also began to understand myself and my own mind on a much deeper level.

My approach is further informed by my continued studies in existential and depth-oriented psychology. Both of these approaches emphasize a respect and understanding of the background, values, goals, and needs of the whole individual, not just one’s symptoms. We are all caretakers of an intricate life story that is constantly evolving, and I firmly believe that by growing to understand this story, we are able to gain an ability to choose a future that more authentically aligns with our true selves.

I am a counselor-in-training currently under the supervision of my master’s program and Christopher Jenkin, M.A., LPA, LPC-S. I have received formal training in the practice of clinical hypnotherapy from the Central Texas Society of Clinical Hypnosis (CTSCH), a component chapter of the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis (ASCH), and retain ongoing memberships in each. I have also received education in Jungian psychotherapy sponsored by the Jung Center of Houston, and continue to seek out trainings and certifications to ensure my ongoing development as a person and professional.
